Spring Carp Cup 2008

After the cancellation of the autumn and winter carp matches, the spring match at barleylands on the 26/27 April was attended by 14 members. We raised £280 in entry fees with a the raffle raising £49, thanks to prizes from Wickford Angling and Catcher baits. All proceeds went to the Essex Air Ambulance that has flown to the aid of members on two occasions in recent years.

The match was won by Mark Lewis jnr with one carp of 25lb 1 oz, Stuart palmer was second with a fish of 19lb 7oz and Dave Twitchett thirs with a 16lb 6oz mirror. All three fish were caught early on Saturday afternoon which turned out to be one of the hottest days of the year so far, though there was a cold bite to the wind.

The Chairman's carp Cup match will be held at Straits Mill on the 12/13 July and entry forms are available from the WebEditor@bdac.co.uk. First prize is a 5 day holiday at Etang des Landes.
