Junior League

Dodds Farm 17/7/10

15 Juniors fished the second match of the season at our new fishery Dodds Farm on the 17th July.  Once again it was a hot day and you could see the carp cruising but they were not in a feeding mood.  We had a few new members and unfortunately 6 of the 15 Juniors did not weigh in,  this was because they fished for the carp and were not bothered with the silver fish.  The winner was James Hunt who also won at Southminster he was drawn on the bottom lake by the lillies he had 3 carp for 21lb 1oz but unfortunately broke his top kit whilst trying to stop a carp bolting into the lillies.  Second was Jacob Tindall fishing next to James,  Jacob was using a waggler shallow and caught 1 carp plus a few silvers for 15lb 12oz.  Jacob's carp was the biggest of the match at 14lb 12oz which was his personal best......well done Jacob.   Third was Kieran Baily with 11lb 14 oz which included 1 carp plus a few silvers.  Kieran was fishing maggot for silvers and then the carp moved in...he lost 2 on the silver rig then changed to carp rig and caught the carp first put in with pellet shallow,  unfortuantely no more followed.  The next match is 24th July at Asheldam this is our Anual Adult/Junior Match.

Southminster 26/6/10

The first Junior Match was fished at Southminster Pit 6 on the 26th June.  12 Juniors arrived for this match which was fished on a very hot day.

The winner was our youngest Junior James Hunt who was drawn on the corner peg known as the Car Boot Swim.  His catch included a lovely Carp of 17lb 10 oz which took paste fished in the margins.  James topped this up with a few Silvers making a winning weight of 19lb 6oz.

Second on the day was our under 12 Champion John Edwards who caught 3 Carp plus a few Silvers on the tip for a weight of 18lb 4oz.  John normally fishes the pole so he did very well to get some Carp out of this swim which was by the reeds known as the Animal Swim.

At the opposite end of theses reeds was Alfie Jones who came 3rd with 18lb which included 3 Carp plus some Silvers.  Alfie had a very eventful match losing several Carp in the reeds one of which broke his pole.  He also unfortunately went for a dip whilst pushing in his bank stick....this reinforces the fact that everyone should take great care when positioning bank sticks.

All 12 Juniors caught fish and all received a prize at the end of the Match.  Our next Match is at Dodds Farm our new fishery on 17th July.  Ring me if you wish to attend.
